SANDY — A man died Sunday afternoon after being shot by police.

Police arrived on a call for a domestic situation about 3 p.m. The man, described as in his 40s, got into an altercation with two officers, Sandy police said.

Police said the man pulled a weapon from his lower leg and charged police, and the officers fired. The shooting happened inside a house, police said.

Both officers fired two shots at the man, police said. The man was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Authorities were conducting interviews Sunday.

According to police, West Valley City will investigate the incident since officers were involved.
