WEST JORDAN — A 12-year-old boy suffered critical injuries after being struck by a car Wednesday afternoon while riding a scooter in West Jordan.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. near Begonia Drive and Cyclamen Way. According to the West Jordan Police Department, officers were called to the scene on reports of a 12-year-old boy on an electric scooter being struck by a vehicle.
The boy was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
At this time, police don't suspect impairment on the driver's behalf, but they are still investigating it. They are also looking to see if speed was a factor and if the boy was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.
Police were still on scene investigating and said that a portion of Cyclamen Way would be temporarily closed.
