HERRIMAN — A Herriman man is facing criminal charges alleging that he agreed to sell sports cards worth thousands, but instead gave buyers cards worth just a couple of dollars and no refunds.

Gentry Lee Cameron, 40, was charged Thursday in 3rd District Court with two counts of theft by deception, a second-degree felony and a class A misdemeanor, and communications fraud, a second-degree felony.

On Jan. 24, 2025, a man purchased sports cards from Cameron, "including a Michael Jordan card and a Joe Burrow card ... for $5,155," according to charging documents.

But when the cards were shipped to the buyer, he did not receive the cards of the basketball legend or the football star quarterback, the charges state. Cameron "claimed that he sent the wrong package … and that he would refund" the money.

But prosecutors say Cameron failed to repay the money and eventually stopped responding to the buyer.

In October, a second man purchased cards from Cameron, including the same Jordan and Burrow cards.

"He paid Cameron a $1,350 deposit, but when his package arrived, the buyer "received different cards than what they had agreed upon, valued at approximately $5," the charges allege.

Cameron again claimed he had sent the wrong package, according to the charges, and promised to resend the cards, but never did and the buyer was not refunded his $1,350.
