2 Utah residents headed to women's mogul finals

LOVIGNO, Italy — Utah residents Olivia Giaccio and Tess Johnson each earned a place in the women's moguls medal round this morning.

Giaccio finished third, immediately behind teammate Elizabeth Lemley, with Tess Johnson eighth.

Australia's Jakara Anthony was first at 81.65.

Qualifying round two is scheduled for 3 a.m. MST on Wednesday, February 11. The top ten finishers in that round advance to the final later that day.

Olivia Giaccio

25-year-old Olivia Giaccio qualified for the medal round after registering an 80.74, the third-best score of the day.

The current Park City, Utah, resident was .21 points behind U.S. teammate Elizabeth Lemley.

Giaccio finished sixth in the 2022 Beijing Games.

Tess Johnson

Utah resident Tess Johnson advanced to the medal round after turning in a score of 73.79, ninth best for the day.

The 25-year-old seeks the first Olympic medal of her career.

Jaelin Kauf

A University of Utah student from Alta, Wyoming, Jaelin Kauf, wasn't her best on Wednesday, finishing 27th out of 29 competitors.

Kauf completed the course with a score of 53.38.

She will be forced to race in tomorrow's qualifying round for a berth in the medal round.
