SALT LAKE CITY — After much anticipation, the Utah Mammoth's new practice facility will finally open to the public. And from now on, it will be known as the Utah Mammoth Ice Center.
The facility, which has been under construction since September 2024, has been the Mammoth's primary location for morning skates and practices, as well as treatment, workouts and more. While they have hosted a few public events there, it has yet to be permanently open to everyone due to ongoing construction.
The opening will commence with opening celebration activities from Feb. 20-22. More details on that event will surface in the coming days, per Smith Entertainment Group.
On Feb. 21, the Mammoth will skate in their first open-to-the-public practice. Public skating and youth hockey programs will commence on Feb. 23.
To attend a Mammoth practice, you must register online. Registration opens 24 hours before each practice. Space is limited to 300 people. Throughout the season, the team will post open practice updates on Facebook and Instagram via @MammothIceCenter.
Utah Mammoth Ice Center skating schedule
- Public skating: Friday through Sunday weekly. The cost is $12 per person. Skate rentals are available for $3 and skate assist rentals are $5.
- Learn to Skate program: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, beginning March 16. This is a seven-week program.
Additional activities include rookie leagues; skills clinics; hockey camps; girls' hockey programs; women's hockey programs and a men's hockey league.
The men's league will play in a structured 16-week season, with games happening from Sunday to Thursday. It will cost $3,600 per team or $325 for a free agent. Registration is available here.
Other features of the Utah Mammoth Ice Center
A concession stand called "Tusky's Corner" will offer a variety of quick meals and snacks, including sandwiches, hot dogs, nachos, pretzel bites, breakfast foods, coffee, hot chocolate and fountain drinks.
There will also be flex spaces available to rent for birthday parties and other private events.
Construction is still ongoing to create an adjoining space for the Utah Jazz to practice. A projected opening date has not been released.
