SALT LAKE CITY — Among the sweeping school safety requirements implemented through HB84, all Utah public schools are required to have a wearable panic alert system in place by the end of June 2026.
The Utah State Board of Education on Tuesday made its choice clear for where it'd like to see these systems come from, selecting Texas-based Raptor Technologies as an integrated panic alert technology provider for public K-12 schools across the state.
"We applaud Utah's commitment to enhancing school safety through an integrated, statewide approach," Gray Hall, CEO of Raptor Technologies, said in a statement. "By bringing together panic alerting, training and emergency response capabilities in one platform, Raptor helps schools improve readiness, streamline response, and better protect Utah students and staff."
Raptor's school security solutions include wearable panic alert devices that help schools quickly initiate emergency alerts and coordinate response across campuses, among a host of other tools to ensure the safety of schools.
Harnessing state funding, Utah's public schools will be able to purchase various components of Raptor's school safety offerings that include wearable panic alert devices that help schools quickly initiate emergency alerts and coordinate rapid emergency response across campuses and compliance and preparedness training for school safety and security specialists.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of Raptor Technologies' safety solutions:
- Raptor Badge Alert: Raptor's badge is a wearable panic alert device that communicates directly with local 911 emergency communications centers and provides floor-level location awareness and indoor mapping, and supports accountability and reuniting students with their families during emergencies.
- Raptor Drill Manager: Software that simplifies planning, scheduling, and documenting drills that meet and exceed state and district requirements, supporting audits and annual reviews required by Utah law.
- Accountability and Reunification: Raptor's suite of digital tools that give school leaders real-time visibility into who is safe, who needs help, and who is still missing. After an emergency, structured workflows licensed from the "I Love U Guys" Foundation help schools reunite students and families quickly and accurately.
- Raptor VisitorSafe: Included with the purchase of the Raptor Badge Alert, VisitorSafe provides proactive visitor screening capabilities while maintaining a "streamlined and welcoming experience for campuses and school events."
"Aligned with USBE priorities for interoperability, compliance and statewide scalability, Raptor's integrated platform — from the wearable Raptor Badge to incident and reunification records — helps Utah public K-12 schools maintain continuous, compliant emergency documentation that supports active threat response, preparedness and training requirements under Utah law," said a release from Raptor.
