TOOELE — A truck driver was struck by a car Tuesday night while trying to cross the road, resulting in serious injuries, troopers said.

The crash happened about 9:40 p.m., and it's believed the man may have been trying to cross state Route 36 near a truck stop when he was hit by a driver in a van traveling south, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Alexander said.

He said the man taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The Utah Department of Transportation said in a post on X that the police late Tuesday were still on scene investigating the crash along the southbound lanes on S.R. 36 at the I-80 offramp.

No lanes were said to be impacted by the crash, but UDOT said crews would be at the scene until about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
