Motorcyclist in 'extreme critical condition' after crash in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY — A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a crash Thursday night.

About 8 p.m., West Valley police responded to a traffic accident near the Wal-Mart at 5600 W. 3200 South, where a vehicle making a U-turn struck a southbound motorcyclist, West Valley Police Lt. Longman said.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in "extremely critical" condition. The driver is cooperating with authorities, and no impairment is suspected, Longman said.

The road is expected to be closed for another hour or so into early Friday while police investigate.
