ST. GEORGE — A motorcyclist died Friday during a traffic stop in St. George.

On Friday, the motorcyclist, whose name has not yet been released, was driving "erratically and posed a danger to the public" along state Route 18 and was spotted by a sheriff's deputy, the Washington County Attorney's Office announced Monday.

The deputy tried to stop the motorcyclist, but the motorcyclist crashed. Additional details of the crash were not released.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital but later died due to injuries from the crash.

A critical incident task force led by the Washington County Attorney's Office is investigating the death.

The attorney's office said no other details will be released until the investigation is complete.
