HIGHLAND — A motorcyclist was critically injured Tuesday night after hitting a tree on state Route 92 near Highland, troopers said.

The motorcyclist was traveling along S.R. 92 near the mouth of the canyon, not far from the Timpanogos Cave National Monument. This area of the state road is known for its scenic views and sharp curves.

Utah Highway Patrol was at the scene Tuesday evening and discovered that the motorcyclist drove off the road and went straight into a tree.

The cause of the accident was unknown, said UHP Lt. Cameron Roden.

The motorcyclist, described only as male, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
