SALT LAKE CITY — Police officers were involved in two separate car crashes over the weekend in Salt Lake City.
The officers are "recovering and receiving the care they need," said Bret Weisberg with the Salt Lake City Police Department. One officer was taken to the hospital for evaluation after being in a car accident with another person who ran a red light, Weisberg said.
Weisburg said the department thanks the officers for "their dedication," and the accidents underscore the need for all drivers to be attentive on the road.
"These incidents serve as a reminder that public safety requires all of us to be aware and responsible," he said. "Our officers are out in our community every day, responding to emergencies, helping those in need and working to keep Salt Lake City safe."
