SALT LAKE CITY — One man is in critical condition after a shooting in Salt Lake City early Friday, police said.

The Salt Lake City Police Department said the shooting was reported at 4:52 a.m. near 230 South and 600 West.

Officers believe the suspect fled the scene, but said there is no immediate risk to the public.

Salt Lake police spokesman Brent Weisberg told KSL.com in an email that the man with the gunshot wound was taken to the hospital, but not by ambulance. He said officers are trying to determine whether he drove himself or received a ride.

Officers asked anyone with more information about the incident to call them at 801-799-3000.
