ROY — A driver turned himself in Thursday after hitting a pedestrian in Roy Wednesday afternoon.

A 77-year-old woman was attempting to cross 4400 South at 2350 West, just before 3 p.m., when police say she was hit by a white car.

Paramedics were called, and the woman was transported to the hospital in serious condition, Roy police officer Stuart Hackworth said. As of Thursday, the woman is still in the hospital but is in stable condition, Roy Police Sgt. Josh Taylor said.

Police were searching for the driver and vehicle involved Wednesday. On Thursday afternoon, a man turned himself in, police said.

Jose Salgado-Rivera, 28, of Clearfield, was booked into Weber County Jail for investigation of failing to remain at an accident, Taylor said.
