WICHITA, Kan. — Texas Tech won its NCAA Tournament opener against UNC Wilmington in part by lofting up a tourney-record 46 shots from beyond the 3-point arc. The Red Raiders took apart Drake on Saturday night by dismantling them in the paint. Texas Tech leaned on JT Toppin, who had 25 points and 12 rebounds, and Darrion Williams, who had a season-best 28 points, to pull away for a 77-64 victory and earn a matchup with Arkansas in the Sweet 16. Texas Tech outscored Drake 50-20 in the paint, and the 77 points that the Bulldogs gave up was the most in regulation all season.
