SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police are asking for the public's help in finding a vehicle linked to a shooting death three years ago.

On Jan. 23, 2022, Anetupou Niualiku, 50, was shot and killed in a parking lot near 130 S. 800 West about 9:20 a.m. Niuakliku died at the scene, despite lifesaving efforts.

No other information had been released about the investigation since Niualiku's name was released, and no arrests have been made. Police say they are still seeking a motive for the crime.

On Tuesday, police released a picture of a vehicle the gunman used to drive away.

"The car is believed to be a 2011-2013 white Hyundai Sonata. Detectives have pictures of the car; however, the license plate cannot be seen," police said Tuesday while also noting that multiple people were believed to be in the vehicle when it drove off.

Anyone with information about the car, its occupants or the case is asked to call police at 801-799-3000.
