OREM — Following a heartbreaking loss to Grand Canyon in the WAC championship game, Utah Valley hoops accepted an invite to the NIT.

Utah Valley will travel to San Fransisco to take on the No. 1-seeded Dons. The game will be played on Wednesday, with tip off at 9 p.m. MDT on ESPNU.

The Wolverines, who finished the regular season 24-7, earned the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament and defeated Seattle U in the semifinal before losing to Grand Canyon in the final.

Following the loss, sophomore guard Tanner Toolson expressed excitement in the tournament, saying there was work to be done and was excited to continue playing with the team.

Despite its season, Utah Valley's draw in the NIT is playing the No. 1 seed on the road. Early indications had Utah Valley getting a home game, but the school had potential issues with scheduling at the UCCU Center. It may not have mattered, though, as the Wolverines have to go on the road against the No. 1 team.

No other WAC teams were invited to the NIT, but teams that Utah Valley saw this season that are in the tournament include Stanford and Jacksonville State.

The No. 1 seeds in the NIT are SMU, Dayton and UC Irvine, in addition to San Fransisco.
