LONDON – Virtual reality technology is increasingly popular because it "transports" you to different worlds by creating a completely immersive digital environment that tricks your senses into believing you are physically present in that space, allowing you to explore it as if it were real.
VR headsets cover your entire field of vision with high-resolution 3D graphics, and controllers or body movements are used to interact with objects and characters in the virtual world. Some advanced VR systems even incorporate haptic feedback to simulate touch sensations, further enhancing the feeling of being in another place.
Whether you're exploring a vibrant fantasy world, battling aliens in space or taking a walking tour of your favorite historical landmark here on Earth, VR makes it oh so real.
At least, that's what I hear. I've never tried VR. But I do want to remind anyone who uses it that even if they are "experiencing" a far-off place, they're still standing in their house or apartment in real life.
That simple warning could've helped the guy in this video.
It's probably shocking for a VR player when something like this happens. One second, you're punching your way through a jungle on Jupiter's 93rd moon, and the next minute your hand is throbbing and there's a dent in the wall.
So stay alert out there, kids. If you're playing VR, be aware of your surroundings and don't go wandering too much.
