MIAMI – Some landscapes go well with clouds and fog. I remember exploring the ruins of a British castle on a foggy morning as a child. The towering stone walls were shrouded in mist. Beyond the castle, the fog hung over the sprawling fields, creating a cinematic scene that perfectly captured the passage of time.

Another place you'd expect to see clouds and fog is the Pacific Northwest. My family loves to spend time on the Olympic Peninsula, and the coastal fog is no joke. Ultimately, the clouds and fog make the peninsula feel dreamlike to me. And it's absolutely beautiful.

A place you might not expect to see shrouded in fog? Miami. But as this video shows, it actually works quite well.

This video almost looks like a scene from a sci-fi movie. The protagonists arrive on some cloud planet, where colorful lights blink through a thick haze.

"A historic cold front came to Miami, Florida and it produced a thick low layer of fog, which rarely happens in Miami," the video caption states, also adding that the video was shot with a drone at 3 a.m.

Wow. That's a dedicated drone operator. Staying up until 3 a.m. sounds impossible to me. Even if the world's most amazing fog were rolling in, I'd still be ready for bed at 9 p.m. — I'm guessing this drone operator doesn't have a toddler.
