HELPER — A Helper police officer was injured after being hit by a vehicle while parked on U.S. 6, police said Sunday.

"While one of our officers were parked stationary on (U.S. 6), another vehicle collided into the rear of our officer's vehicle while the officer was seated in the driver's seat. Our officer was transported to the hospital in stable condition," police said in a statement.

Helper police did not disclose the severity of the officer's injuries but said his or her condition "may be released at a later time."

Police did not provide additional information about the crash, including whether the other driver was injured or what caused the crash.

The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating.
