SALT LAKE CITY — A new Young Men Presidency was announced in general conference Saturday by President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The new Young Men General Presidency includes President Timothy Farnes, Brother David J. Wunderli as first counselor, and Brother Sean R. Dixon as second counselor.
President Farnes currently serves as an area seventy in the Utah Area and is a self-employed investor and adviser living in Bountiful. He and his wife Linsey have five children.
Brother Wunderli lives in Alpine and currently serves on the Young Men general advisory counsel and has previously served as a mission president, along with many other callings. He has four children with his wife Diane.
Brother Dixon lives in Spanish Fork and directs the Utah South Institute Region. He has had various assignments within the church's seminary and institute organizations for the last 30 years and currently serves as a stake president. He has five children with his wife M'Shelle.
President Steven J. Lund, Brother Bradley R. Wilcox and Brother Michael T. Nelson were released from the Young Men General Presidency, although they will continue serving over the next few months. Brother Nelson served as a counselor for two years, while President Lund and Brother Wilcox were called to the presidency in 2020.
Church President Russell M. Nelson, 100, watched the first session of general conference Saturday from home, President Oaks said.
In addition to the new Young Men Presidency, Elder Kevin R. Elder Duncan has served as a general authority seventy since 2010, and most recently has served as executive director of the Temple Department.
An additional 16 men were called to serve as general authority seventies. A statement from the church said these men will serve full-time for the church and are typically released in the year they turn 70.
President Oaks said Elders David S. Baxter, Randall K. Bennett, Kevin S. Hamilton, Rafael E. Pino and Jorge F. Zeballos will be released from their service as general authority seventies on Aug. 1 and given emeritus status.
