AT THE PODIUM — Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston has become renowned for his faith-engaging sound bites in recent weeks. He delivered perhaps his best yet after Monday's 41-32 loss to the Denver Broncos.
"I know I'm better than this," Winston said in the postgame press conference. "I'm just praying for the Lord to deliver me from pick sixes."
Winston threw three interceptions on Monday, and the Broncos returned two of them for a combined 115 yards and a pair of pick sixes.
The 30-year-old NFL vet had 497 passing yards on 58 attempts against Denver and set a record for most combined passing yards in an NFL game when including the yards returned off his interceptions, with 668 in all.
"In times like this, it's an opportunity to continue to glorify the Lord," Winston added in his press conference remarks. "Even through the toughest circumstances."
The Browns dropped to 3-9 on the season and 2-3 since Winston took over as starting quarterback for the injured Deshaun Watson on Oct. 27.
