CENTERVILLE — Officials identified a Woods Cross man who died in a motorcycle accident in Centerville Friday night.

Kevin Butler, 31, was riding south on Legacy Highway near Parrish Lane when he failed to negotiate a curve, colliding with the cable barrier in the center median, Utah Highway Patrol said. He was thrown from his bike and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Butler died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police said witnesses saw him traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.

According to an online fundraiser,* Butler was only one exit away from home. He leaves behind a wife and two sons. Butler was facing setbacks in his career, and his wife also recently lost her job, the fundraiser said, causing them to lose their health insurance.
