OGDEN — A man was killed in a police shooting Sunday afternoon as officers were responding to a call in Ogden.
Around noon, officers went to a residence in the 900 block of 1050 North after a woman asked for police to stand by while she collected belongings from her home, police said in a press conference Sunday.
After arriving, the officers were confronted by the woman's estranged husband, who was "confrontational and uncooperative," Ogden Police Chief Jake Sube said. The woman and officers entered the home, and the man grabbed and brandished a firearm, he said.
One officer fired at the man, who was struck. Medical aid was administered to the 45-year-old man, but he died from his injuries, Sube said.
The officer who fired at the man has been placed on administrative leave pending investigations. The Weber County Critical Incident Investigations team will be conducting the investigation.
Sube said there is no threat to the public, and the department is committed to a "transparent and thorough investigation." He said more details on the shooting death will be released in the next few days.
