ABU DHABI — From surfing air currents to ocean currents, a professional skydiver made history with the first sky-to-surf transition.

Sebastián Álvarez is well-known for his wingsuit flyer stunts he does for Red Bull. But last month, he decided to up his stunt game by skydiving into a wave.

Álvarez jumped out of a helicopter with a modified surfboard strapped to his feet. After falling for a bit, he opened his chute and gracefully glided down until he perfectly landed on the water ready to rip into the wave on his surfboard.

Coming from someone who cannot skydive or surf, it's quite an incredible feat.

"Catching that wave for the first time and nailing the timing was pure magic," Álvarez said on his Instagram. "We were all completely stoked, riding the high of the moment. Nothing beats that rush."

Álvarez accomplished the stunt at Surf Abu Dhabi, the world's largest wave pool with cutting-edge technology to create perfect surfing waves.

For an up-close perspective, there is a video from the camera strapped on Álvarez's head that emphasizes just how impressive this accomplishment was.
