BOUNTIFUL — After a heartbreaking loss to Roy, Viewmont looked to get back in the win column as it soon prepares for the 5A state tournament. Backed by a five touchdown performance from their quarterback, the Vikings got back in the win column last week.

Titan Longson threw five touchdown passes, but also threw for over 300 yards — and did most of it in the first half where the Vikings had a 42-7 lead through two quarters over Bonneville.

"After our first loss, we locked in every single week," Longson said. "We have starting guys on our scout teams to make everyone better. It is best on best. It is helping us, and me, a lot."

It sure is helping Longson, who is top five in the state of Utah in passing yards and passing touchdowns with 31. What Longson has done for the Vikings is part of the reason they're a serious threat in the upcoming state playoffs.

"Our coaching staff's playbook fits me super well," he said. "They trust me and give me free range to do what checks I want. I think they give me range to make plays and be a playmaker. From the moment I transferred from Woods Cross, coach Jones was always there for me. He helps with recruiting and does everything in his power to help you reach your goals."

Though ineligible to win the title at 3-3 in region play, Longson is focused on the state playoffs and throwing a lot of touchdowns.

"Teams are going to want to know we are going to throw the ball," he said. "I'm going to throw the ball a lot and score touchdowns."

After his playing days are done, Longson wants to be known for more than just a football player, but for his actions off the field.

"I want people to know that I was a hard worker, nice, respectful, and always did his best," he said.

Longson plans to go to one year of school before serving a church mission. After, he hopes to play college football where he is currently speaking with coaches from Utah Tech.

Longson and the Vikings will finish out the regular season on the road at Clearfield, and then will await their fate for the 5A state playoffs.
