SALT LAKE CITY — A pair of teen boys, ages 16 and 14, are facing criminal charges following an investigation into multiple convenience store robberies, Salt Lake police announced Saturday.

The 14-year-old has been charged with eight counts of robbery, while six counts were filed against the 16-year-old, according to a press release. Because of the ages of the suspects, police say they will not release any additional information about them.

The investigation began on Sept. 19, according to the release, when officers responded to a robbery around noon near the intersection of 500 East and 2100 South.

Three days later, officers arrested the pair near 1400 S. Utahna Drive, the release says. They were booked into the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center.

Detectives worked with the district attorney's office "over the course of several weeks" to file the charges, the release says. It remains unclear how many stores were allegedly robbed, the timing of the filed charges, and the severity of those charges.
