SALT LAKE CITY — After looking like the top team from the Big 12 after four weeks of play, Utah got a rude awakening Saturday night on their home turf.

The Utes stalled in the red zone and had a tough time containing Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita and the offense in a 23-10 loss at Rice-Eccles Stadium. It was a loss that Utah running back Micah Bernard described as "unacceptable."

Meanwhile, BYU went on the road to Waco, Texas, and quickly built up a 21-0 lead over Baylor before the first quarter ended. The Bears made the Cougars sweat it out a little bit late in the game in a comeback to make it a one-score game, but BYU got the job done in the end to remain undefeated on the season.

The two results had an impact on the national rankings, with BYU jumping rival Utah in a somewhat unpredicted turn of events considering how each team was viewed coming into the season.

On Sunday, BYU was ranked No. 17 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 consensus poll, up five spots from the Cougars' debut last week at No. 22. After breaking the top 10, Utah dropped down to No. 18, an eight spot drop in the rankings.

Iowa State moved up two spots in the rankings to No. 16 to become the highest-ranked team from the Big 12 this week. Outside of BYU and Utah, Kansas State moved up three spots to No. 20 after a win over Oklahoma State, who dropped out of the rankings this week.

Arizona, Oklahoma State and Colorado each received votes in the latest rankings.

After a primetime matchup between Alabama and Georgia, the Crimson Tide jumped up to No. 1 in the rankings with a win over the Bulldogs, securing 40 first-place votes.

Behind Alabama in the rankings is No. 2 Texas, who drops one spot despite a win, with 19 first-place votes, followed by No. 3 Ohio State (4), No. 4 Tennessee and No. 5 Georgia.

At the bottom of the poll, UNLV checks in at No. 25 for the first time ever being ranked in the AP Top 25.
