SMITHFIELD — Sky View senior wide receiver Liam Guthrie has been a force on the field this season, but his standout performance against the Orem Tigers last week solidified his place as the KSL.com prep football Player of the Week.

At 6-foot-3, Guthrie put on a show, racking up an impressive 204 receiving yards and scoring five touchdowns in the Bobcats' thrilling 60-59 victory over Orem.

The game came down to the wire, with Guthrie connecting with quarterback Jack Clark for a game-winning 14-yard touchdown pass with just 1:23 remaining in the fourth quarter.

"It was the best atmosphere and craziest game I've ever played in," Guthrie said. "It was a special game to be a part of, for sure."

The Bobcats (4-2) faced a 17-point deficit at halftime, but rallied in the second half to put up 27 points in the third quarter alone.

Guthrie was key to the comeback, scoring on a 30-yard pass early in the final quarter. His connection with Clark throughout the game was undeniable, leading to his five touchdowns — just over half of his season total of nine.

But Guthrie isn't just a standout on the football field; the receiver is also a multi-sport athlete, excelling on the basketball court, too, where he was an all-region player on Sky View's varsity basketball team with an average of 15.3 points per game.

His ability to dominate in two sports reflects his incredible athleticism and dedication.

Guthrie's stellar performance in the game against Orem brings his football season to 647 receiving yards on 39 receptions, making Friday's game his most statistically impressive yet.

"When we get in the locker room before the game, I mentally prepare by going over plays and envision me making plays in my head," he said.

Guthrie has his sights set on continuing his football career, and has already received an offer to play at Southern Utah. He has also been visiting schools around the country in search of his next team.

"I plan to take it to the next level and hope to play college ball somewhere," Guthrie said.

With Sky View now ranked No. 20 in this week's KSL.com Top 20+1 rankings, Guthrie and his teammates are aiming high.

"We want to win a region title and maybe even a state title," Guthrie said. "My goal is to keep going at 100% and keep helping my team win."

Sky View will look to extend their three-game win streak when they take on Bear River (1-5) on Friday.
