SALT LAKE CITY — BreAnna Anderson, a 45-year-old who was bicycling in the Central 9th neighborhood of Salt Lake City on Sept. 22, was killed after being struck by a car.
Police began investigating the incident shortly after midnight on Sunday when an officer saw a car stopped in the road with its hazard lights on near 400 West and 800 South.
The officer found Anderson lying in the road with multiple injuries. She was taken to the hospital with "life-threatening injuries," Salt Lake police said in a statement.
"She was hospitalized and eventually succumbed to the extensive injuries she sustained from the accident," her obituary says. "BreAnna passed away with her family by her bedside."
Police said in a statement they believe Anderson "was riding a bicycle westbound in the eastbound lanes and struck the car head-on," according to the statement, and that the vehicle's driver is cooperating with investigators.
