SALT LAKE CITY — In an improbable setting, Utah rugby player Alex "Spiff" Sedrick made history for the United States in the Paris Olympics.

Sedrick had made the U.S. Olympics roster in June and said right away "there were so many emotions." But what came during the Olympics was something to remember for a lifetime as she helped the U.S. to its first medal.

"It's exciting for us," Sedrick said. "We definitely wanted to come away with some hardware, especially since our program had never made it past quarter before."

It was an emotional moment for all of Sedrick's family in attendance as she helped her country make history. The Utah-born star talks about her rugby journey, and what a medal in the Olympics means to her and the sport. See her story in the video above.
