PARIS — France captain Jean-Philippe Mateta was exhausted at the final whistle, limping off the field at Park des Princes. The Crystal Palace forward, one of the overage veterans on the Olympic team, had helped fuel his team's comeback after falling in a 3-1 hole against Spain in the gold medal match on Friday night. Mateta converted a penalty kick in stoppage time, pulling even with Spain 3-3 and sending the match into extra time. But ultimately, Spain prevailed 5-3.
