SALT LAKE CITY — Chicho Arango is suspended from the 2024 MLS All-Star Game, but the league chose to go with another Real Salt Lake star as his replacement.

Third-year RSL midfielder Diego Luna was announced Friday as a replacement for Arango, earning his first selection and maintaining RSL's milestone of sending multiple players to the All-Star Game for the first time since 2015 with defender Justen Glad selected during the initial vote.

Columbus and All-Star team head coach Wilfried Nancy selected Luna alongside Colorado Rapids defender Moise Bombito as late additions to the exhibition match on Wednesday against the Liga MX All-Stars.

Luna is the youngest member of the MLS All-Star roster at 20 years old.

"Luna is enjoying a breakout campaign with five goals and 12 assists (third-most in MLS) across 22 appearances," the MLS release said. "The dynamic midfielder signed a long-term contract extension with RSL in March 2024 and received his first USMNT call-up last January."
