SALT LAKE CITY — Major League Soccer announced Wednesday several disciplinary decisions for Real Salt Lake surrounding a confrontation with Minnesota United FC on Oct. 2 at America First Field.

RSL defender Brayan Vera was at the center of the decisions, including three separate fines and a three-match suspension for spitting at a Minnesota player.

One match was already served against San Jose last week, and the 25-year-old Colombian will serve the rest of the suspension in the regular season finale on Oct. 19 against Vancouver and the playoff opener.

Vera received a red card during the Minnesota match after the referee reviewed a replay and confirmed the incident. It was just the second red card of the season for RSL, but Vera's suspension is the second multi-game suspension for RSL this season after Chicho Arango also missed three games in July for "violating the MLS anti-harassment policy."

Vera has played the most minutes in the RSL defense behind center-back partner Justen Glad and has two goals and two assists on the season.

RSL was also found in violation of the MLS "mass confrontation policy" for the third time this season following the spitting incident against Minnesota. A fine for an undisclosed amount was issued to the club and head coach Pablo Mastroeni.

The regular season finale will be at home at AFF on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. MDT.
