LEHI — The kings of Lehi have been crowned.

In a crosstown matchup between the 2022 5A and 6A state champions, Skyridge took down rival Lehi 35-17 to claim hometown supremacy in the first-ever Region 3 meeting for the two schools.

"This was a game we've had circled on our schedule ever since it came out," Skyridge running back Carter Sheffield said. "We wanted this so bad. To do this on their field, man, that felt great."

Sheffield led the Falcons charge with a pair of third quarter touchdown runs to all but ice the win for Skyridge.

"The offensive line balled out and were moving their guys all around," Sheffield said. "It made my job really easy."

Falcons quarterback Jackson Stevens connected with receivers Trent Call and Jack Burke for touchdowns, while running back Trevan McClellan scored on the ground, as well. Skyridge kicker Blake Hester finished a perfect 5-of-5 on extra point attempts in the 35-point Skyridge effort.

"We could have been a bit more effective in the pass game, but we made the plays that we needed to," Falcons head coach Justin Hemm said. "The one thing that was a constant all night long was our run game, and that started with our line up front."

Lehi, suffering losses in consecutive weeks following a run of 24 straight wins, received two touchdown runs from Devaughn Eka and a Gavin Fenn 28-yard made field goal for the team's offensive output in the evening. Lehi struggled to stop Skyridge's run game and crack the Falcons defense.

Skyridge moves to 7-0 with the win and sets up a pivotal matchup with Lone Peak next week as the Falcons look to capture the Region 3 crown.

"Region 3 is stacked," Sheffield said. "We have to keep getting better day-by-day. We'll celebrate tonight but come back in the morning to get ready for Lone Peak."
