PROVO — It was a great Saturday in Provo for BYU fans, as the Cougars remain undefeated with a 41-19 win over Arizona.
But it was an especially great day for Class of 2025 BYU commit Cale Breslin.
"The experience at LES is always great," Breslin said. "It was cool to see the players get hype after a great home win. It was also good to hear coach Kalani (Sitake) after the game."
Breslin is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back from Faith Lutheran High in Las Vegas, Nevada. Breslin is ranked the No. 10 recruit in Nevada, and the No. 88 running back in the senior class, according to 247Sports.
The Nevada product committed to BYU on May 10 over the likes of Syracuse, Wisconsin and Indiana. But what won Breslin over for BYU was his relationship with running backs coach Harvey Unga.
"BYU was an easy decision for me," Breslin said. "My relationship with coach Harvey Unga is strong, and I know he believes in me. Coach Harvey has high expectations, and I plan to give everything I have to this team."
But Unga isn't the only coach on staff that Breslin has connected with. He especially respects Kalani Sitake for the family atmosphere he provides, and how he leads the team.
"You can really see coach Kalani's vision," Breslin said. "I never heard one bad thing on any visit to Provo about coach Kalani. Every coach always spoke very highly of coach Kalani and all the other coaches."
Another factor that led Breslin to BYU was the longevity he feels he has within the program, along with the opportunity to develop.
While there wasn't one specific moment when Breslin realized that BYU was going to be his best option, he always recognized the high expectations the program has for its players, along with maintaining a family atmosphere.
Breslin will be an early enrollee at BYU and will be on campus in January.
"I came to the decision after prayer, speaking with my parents a lot, and knowing that coach Kalani is the type of coach I want to play for," Breslin said. "I'm an early grad, and I'm ready to get to work and build deeper relationships with everyone."
Breslin's Faith Lutheran Crusaders are currently 7-0 on the season, and are in first place in Nevada's 5A Division 2 Southern League.
