Human remains discovered in Lake Powell

KANAB — Police responded to the discovery of human remains in Lake Powell on Friday.

Officers were notified about possible human remains by a group of people on a houseboat, the Kane County Sheriff's Office said.

With the assistance of the National Park Service, officers collected the remains. They were then transported to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy and potential identification.

At this time, authorities have not said whether foul play is suspected.
