MOAB — One person died in a multi-car crash on U.S. 191 near Moab on Friday.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash, Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Zach Randall said.
A Ford Escape was traveling south when it crossed the center lane and struck a Ford F550 hauling three Ram Sprinter vans, police said. After the collision, the Escape came to rest in the northbound lanes, where it was clipped by a commercial vehicle also traveling north.
The driver of the Escape died in the crash, though police did not say which crash caused the driver's death.
U.S. 191 is closed in both directions south of Moab on the border of Grand and San Juan counties.
