HELPER — Hazmat crews are responding to a semitruck rollover in Indian Canyon that is leaking crude oil, the Utah Highway Patrol said Monday.

UHP Lt. Zach Randall said the truck crashed into a ravine near state Route 191 in Indian Canyon on Monday evening just before 6 p.m.

No one was injured in the crash, and it's unknown what caused the crash.

Randall initially said the oil could make its way to nearby Price River, but he later assured that hazmat crews were able to stop the oil about ¼ to ½ mile from the spill and that no drinking water was impacted.

"It never made it to the Price River; cleanup teams are on scene now," he said.

Officials initially estimated that at least a couple hundred gallons of crude oil had spilled from the truck.

Hazmat crew members and the Department of of Emergency Management were said to be on scene coordinating, and troopers are working to clean the spill up, he said.
