PERRY, Box Elder County — A car crashed into an embankment and slid off the road, landing in a Perry homeowner's front room on Thursday.

Police said someone called dispatch Thursday afternoon about 2:30 p.m. about a car "driving erratically" while going north on U.S. 89.

The car struck another vehicle before going down an embankment and eventually slamming into the front of a home just off the highway, Perry Police Chief Scott Hancey said.

As of about 7:30 p.m., the vehicle was still wedged inside the home as police and other first responders were trying to remove it without causing further damage, Hancey said.

Photos later taken by KSL show the truck being pulled from the home.

Neither the driver of the vehicle that was hit nor the homeowner were hurt, but the driver of the vehicle traveling "erratically" was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the series of crashes, according to Hancey.

Southbound U.S. 89 was shut down for a time but has since reopened.

Police said it's unknown at this time if the homeowner will be displaced or not, but initial photos of the home show the vehicle lodged in a large area of the home.
