DRAPER — The body of a paraglider was recovered after a fatal accident at Corner Canyon recreation area, authorities confirmed Friday afternoon.

Draper police Lt. Mike Elkins said a man in his 30s was paragliding in the Corner Canyon area above Orson Smith trailhead when the "parachute failed." Witnesses who were in the area allegedly saw the parachute go down, according to Elkins.

Officers from the police department and a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter searched the area to locate and recover the man's body, which was turned over to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner.

The man's identity is being withheld while officials work to notify his next of kin.
