SALT LAKE CITY — From Utah receiving the new U.S. Forest Service headquarters to potentially receiving $1 billion for Great Salt Lake solutions, Utah's natural resources have made quite a few recent federal headlines.
That doesn't include the political football that is Bears Ears and Grande Staircase-Escalante national monuments, or other natural resources decisions that have flipped in recent years amid shifts in partisan control.
Utah's first congressional district appears destined for a party change. With a new Democratic-leaning boundary ahead of the 2026 election, some of the top candidates vying for the position agreed to debate public lands, air quality, water and other key Utah issues, which will be streamed live at KSL.
Ben McAdams, Nate Blouin, Michael Farrell and Liban Mohamed will discuss how they plan to handle each issue, which is being hosted by the nonprofit Stewardship Utah to commemorate Earth Day.
Correction: A previous version misspelled Farrell's last name as Farrel.
