SPRINGVILLE — A four-car collision in Springville has left one person is dead, police said Monday afternoon.

About 2:20 p.m., a car traveling south on Main Street was approaching 1400 North when it somehow veered out of its lane and collided with oncoming traffic, according to Springville Police Chief Lance Haight.

The crash impacted a total of four cars.

Police and medical personnel responded to render aid, but the driver of the car traveling south died; the occupants of the other vehicles sustained injuries that did not appear life-threatening and were taken to a hospital.

"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the driver who did not survive this tragic accident," Haight said in a statement.

Police did not release any identifying information about the person who died.

The crash is under investigation.

Traffic is being redirected through the industrial park in both Provo and Springville, as 1400 North is closed in both directions.

Drivers should expect delays for the next few hours.
