FRUIT HEIGHTS — A man died Sunday morning after his vehicle was engulfed in flames after hitting a retaining wall.

About 2:30 a.m., the vehicle struck a retaining wall near the 200 North exit and Mountain Road in Fruit Heights at a high speed, said Stephanie Dinsmore, Davis County sheriff's office spokesperson.

First responders arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames with the driver still inside, and Dinsmore said the man, in his 40s, died at the scene.

Dinsmore said the crash's cause remains under investigation.
