PARK CITY — The lead detective in the case against Kouri Richins is expected to testify Tuesday about calls Kouri Richins made to her family from jail and other aspects of the investigation.
Kouri Richins, a Kamas mom and real estate agent, is accused of fatally poisoning Eric Richins on March 4, 2022. She is also accused of slipping drugs into his food, making him sick, on Valentine's Day in 2022.
Detective Jeff O'Driscoll is the final witness deputy Summit County attorney Brad Bloodworth said prosecutors plan to call during their main presentation of evidence.
On Monday, jurors heard testimony from Eric Richins' friend and business partner, an investigator hired by Eric Richins' family and a handwriting expert who said Eric Richins was likely not the person who signed his name on an application for a new life insurance policy about a month before his death.
Kouri Richins, 35, is charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder, first-degree felonies; two counts of insurance fraud, a second-degree felony; and forgery, a third-degree felony. She also has a separate case with additional financial charges, which will not be considered by this jury.
