APPLE VALLEY, Washington County — A woman has died after her plane crashed in Washington County Saturday.

Shortly after 10 a.m., Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue responded to reports of an aircraft crash south of Hurricane near the Utah-Arizona border. Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed the sole occupant of the aircraft was deceased, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

The woman was flying the single-engine aircraft southwest of Apple Valley when it crashed, according to Washington County Sheriff's Sgt. Lucas Alfred. Further details about what led to the crash remained unavailable as of Saturday afternoon.

The woman's identity has not been released.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office will continue to lead the investigation into the crash, the post said.
