OREM — Two familiar names were on top at the close of the 2A and 3A state drill competition.
South Sevier swept all three categories of military, dance and show to clinch the 2A state championship for the second time in four years Friday night at the UCCU Center at Utah Valley University.
The Sensations finished ahead of second-place Duchesne in all three categories to clinch their 14th title in program history and 10th since 2012, adding to a championship haul with the first time since this year's senior class were incoming freshmen.
In 3A, Canyon View finished first in military and dance to pull away for the Talons' fifth consecutive state championship. The five-year streak is tied for the seventh longest championship run since the Utah High School Activities Association sanctioned competitive drill in 1983.
Morgan, which won the show category, finished second, followed by Manti, Juab and Ogden.
