SPANISH FORK — An 85-year-old woman died Sunday night as a result of a multivehicle crash that also forced the closure of a portion of U.S. 6 in Spanish Fork.

The crash happened at 7:50 p.m. when a truck pulling a horse trailer collided with several vehicles that were stopped at a red light in the westbound lanes of U.S. 6 at Spanish Fork Parkway, according to the Spanish Fork Police Department.

Mary Jacobson, of Utah County, died after being taken to the hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, Lt. Cory Slaymaker said.

Another person was taken to the hospital in serious condition, police said.

The truck pulling the trailer was hauling four horses, Slaymaker said, and one of the animals sustained a broken leg.

U.S. 6 was closed from Canyon Road to Spanish Fork Parkway as police investigated the crash and worked to clear the roadway.
