SALT LAKE CITY — Check back for the latest scores from all the Week 9 high school football games across the state.
As a note: Games this week will be played on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
KSL.com Sports' Game of the Week: American Fork at Corner Canyon (Thursday)
Why did we choose this game?
Region 3 is a gauntlet every season, and this year is no different. With two weeks left in the regular season, there's very little separation between all the teams, and it's anyone's guess as to who will win region.
Consider this ... American Fork beat Lone Peak, who beat Corner Canyon, who beat Skyridge, who beat Lehi, who beat American Fork. Yes, the wheel of defeat is complete, but someone has to come out on top.
Thursday night's matchup between American Fork and Corner Canyon good be a big decider in the title race, though each team has grander aspirations this season.
No. 1 Corner Canyon will look to maintain its top spot in the state as the Chargers work to defend the 6A title with a team that is putting up 45.9 points per game this season (35.0 points in region play) and allowing just 16.9 points (28.0 in region) for opponents.
American Fork, though, is coming off its second loss of the year (26-3) in a poor offensive showing against Lehi. The 10th-ranked Cavemen hope to bounce back against a formidable opponent, but it'll likely take more than the 26.5 points the team averages each week on offense.
Is this another Chargers reign of power or do the Cavemen knock down the top of the food chain?

- Thursday: Lehi stuns Lone Peak behind dominant defense and Legend Glasker's spark
