A witness noticed the motorcycle traveling at a "high rate of speed" when it entered a curve on the left side of the road. The motorcyclist missed the curve and went off the pavement on the right side of the road, UHP said.
The motorcycle hit a safety barrier and rolled into a rocky and wooded area, according to troopers. The driver, Leslie Powers, 79, of Draper, fell off the bike and sustained fatal injuries.
UHP says Powers was the only person on the motorcycle.
