HERRIMAN — A teenager is in extremely critical condition after being struck by a vehicle.

At 9:35 p.m. Friday, Herriman police responded to a report of an incident at 6364 W. Teton Ranch Drive. First responders then discovered the 16-year-old boy with significant injuries, according to a press release from the Herriman Police Department.

Paramedics from Unified Fire Authority and the South Jordan Fire Department treated the 16-year-old, who was then flown to an area hospital.

A preliminary investigation showed three juveniles arrived together in the vehicle and were exploring a "residential development mostly under construction." The 16-year-old was outside the vehicle and was struck by the front of the moving vehicle. The female driver who remained on scene and the male passenger were fully cooperating with the investigation, the release said.

Contributing factors are still being investigated, though current information suggests the female driver did not see the 16-year-old in front of the vehicle.

Due to the ages of the individuals involved, police said they will release no further identifying information, and the South Valley Crash Investigators Unit will take over investigation of the incident, the release said.
